Q: I have a friend who is coming to visit for the night tomorrow and she has servere cat allergies. I have two cats and a small apartment but we have nowhere else for her to stay. My idea was to vacuum and brush my cats and quarantine them in a room for the night. Does anyone have any other suggestions that might help? She already takes medicine for her allergies. Thank you very much thats very helpful :) it is only for one night but i guess her throat closes up so tahts not good haha. My cats do have a whole room to themselves though so it shoudl be fine :)
A: It'll be very difficult to remove the allergens that quickly - it can take many months for the cat allergens to decrease significantly from a home after the animals are removed. Washing the cat and vacuuming is helpful (you need a vacuum with HEPA filter though). Also wipe the walls and blinds. Check out the website below (under cat allergy) for more on cat avoidance.
