Q: I'm allergic to chocolate, or more specifically Cocoa in chocolate so the doctor tells me. So I use a skin product with Cocoa Butter (Theobroma Cacao) will this bring about my allergic reaction too? (Migraines)
A: Most likely you are allergic to cocoa only when you consume it, or put it in your blood stream. Also, im not a doctor but I believe that the part of the plant they use to make the chocolate with and the part that is put in lotions is different. If you are allergic to the plant itself I do not recommend using lotions with that product in it, given that there are so many other options out there. An easy way to find out for sure would be to consult your pharmacist. You could go to the drug store and i'm sure he or she would consult with you for free, then you would have access to all types of lotion and they could recommend what is best for you.
