allergic to honey? (and remedies).?

Q: every time my mom eats honey, she gets these weird "reactions" and feels like her throat closes and swells. she suddenly started being what we called "allergic to honey" so she avoided honey in every possible way. one of my aunts came to visit, and she was unaware that my mom was allergic, so she put honey on her tea. my mom started having reactions about an hour after she drank the tea- and now she feels like her throat itches and her nose is extremely runny. (she's not swelling, or any serious stuff) but she's very uncomfortable. anything we can do to help her? any home remedies or something we can give her meanwhile? serious answers will be appreciated =]

A: I think that depends on the honey she is eating. Some honey does have additives, or else the honey she is buying has certain pollens in it that she is allergic too. I would suggest trying a local and RAW honey first since she will already be used to the local pollens that make their way into the honey. However, it could very well be that she is allergic to honey. If she really is allergic to honey she could also have reactions to some breads and baking products with honey in them.
