All my random fasting tests at home have been under 100, it seems though that if I test after?

Q: I have been up for a while that it goes over 100 and then bak down... And after I eat like an hour after it goes to like 130-140 something but it always goes bak down...under 100 or so. that's the key right?? that it goes bak down.?? its kinda like it spikes and then goes bak down..

A: The fasting blood test (upon waking) is accurate. When you start moving around, getting ready, whatever, your liver can dump sugar into your blood stream (the brain thinks you need the sugar because of the activity), then that sugar is used up so the blood sugar goes back down. Even non-diabetics (I am assuming you are one) have spikes after they eat. One of my son's diabetes educators said that she tested her BG after having a huge margarita (the only kind of office party where everyone gets drunk and tests their blood!ha). She is not diabetic, but her blood sugar was almost 200!! due to the incredible amount of sugar in the margarita (liquid sugar hits even faster than solid). The pancreas is really good at timing its delivery of insulin, but not perfect. So it is normal that an hour after eating, your BG is higher. And under 100 is perfectly normal, so don't worry about it.
