Can you die in a coma and be revived?

Q: Is it possible to actually die in a coma in such a way that you can be brought back to life by doctors? What is that, and could you try dumbing down the technical stuff so I could understand?

A: Ok, it is totally possible to die and be brought back while you are in a coma. This is because even though your brain is asleep, your body is still functioning. If your heart fails while you are in a coma, the doctors know how to fix your heart and make it start beating again. Doctors do that all the time. There are different kind of comas, too. Some comas are so deep that your brain isn't telling your body to do much of anything, so you even need machines to do stuff for you. Others are very light. You breath and everything on your own, and just look like you are napping, but you simply won't wake up. Most comas (especially the ones where you here that people were asleep for years and year and then just woke up one day) are the kind where you are breathing and stuff on your own. Keep in mind that a coma is different from being brain dead. The doctors use machines to look at the energy moving about in your brain - if they don't see any, you are basically a vegetable. That means that no matter what they do, you are never going to wake up again because your brain no longer works. Whether your spirit has left the body or the brain stem has snapped (kind of like destroying the hard drive of a computer) you are dead, and are only being kept alive by the machines. Oh, and also, sometimes doctors can induce a coma. Like, if you suffered severe burns in an accident, they don't want you waking up before enough of you has been healed. So they will give you heavy meds to keep you under and asleep until they want you to wake up.
