How Do Laxatives Make You Lose Weight?

Q: Ive heard laxative make you lose weight, like a lot of people with eating disorders will use them. I by all means dont intend on doing this nor do I need to lose weight, but I am curious how it works, does a laxative basically make food go right through you?

A: when you eat, your body absorbs all of the nutritional content, then you pass the rest of what is left usually a semi-solid poop, this is called metabolizing. taking a laxative is going help you bypass alot of the metabolizing and go strait to pooping it out, but it will be runny, because your body did not absorb the liquids in the food and just got rid of it. it is almost like binge eating and purging, except you get a little more nutrition. either way it is not good because you starve your body and when this happens, our body gets desperate and metabolizes you. your fat and your muscle, so you will lose both fat and muscle and your scale will show a lower number. fyi more muscle= more calories burned by your body= higher metabolism= easier to keep fat off.
