Could quitting smoking influence farting?

Q: Me and a buddy of mine quit smoking last week, and ever since we have just been well, extra - extra stinky. Is there some way that quitting smoking might influence this? I was thinking that smoking does influence stomach acid production - and a change in that might influence the digestive tract further down the line, so to speak. Any ideas? And if you have an idea - will we always been this stinky? Its rather embarassing. We both just went cold turkey - I ate a lot of junk food for three days - but the screaming cravings have subsudided.... I dont think its dietary though, because my freind and I are BOTH stinky as heck and we havent eaten the same diet. I'm pretty sure its just the smoking. And I'm hoping it will slow down pretty shortly.

A: When I first quit smoking, I began farting with embarrassing regularity! After a few months, it began to diminish, and now, two years into being a nonsmoker, the 'problem' is gone. I chose to let it run its course rather than add a medication to try to stop it. Trust your body - it will adjust and resolve. BTW - this farting frenzy is NOT uncommon!
