Q: my mom is a nurse and thinks i have sports induced asthma, but i have a field hockey game in two days and don't have time to set up an appointment, so i was just wondering if you can buy inhalers over the counter or something like an inhaler. thanks! i live in pennsylvania USA, just so ya know.......and i can't "forget mom" cause i'm only 13 so she needs to set up an appointment she hasn't made on yet because she just got over strep and she thought i may have caught it. she just decided today that she thinks it's asthma, and my doctor isn't available tomorrow or sunday, and i have a game monday

A: There are OTC(over the counter) asthma inhalers such as Primatene mist, but they should only be used as a temporary replacement for prescription inhalers. You should see your physician or allergist as soon as possible, don't rely on the OTC inhalers for regular use. GOOD LUCK!!!!:)
