Q: My boyfriend gets pain, numbness, tingles and such in his left foot. I really don't want him to become solely dependant on his medications. He takes additional supplements such as B-12 but is there anything that I can do to help????
A: Get him to soak his foot in very hot water with Epsom Salt added to it. Follow the directions on the bag. When he is able to put his foot all the way in, just keep it there until the water is slightly warm. Have him grab his foot, one hand under the heel, the other under the toes or ball of the foot. Have him stretch the foot by pulling back or up with both hands at the same time. Do this stretching for a few times. He can also stand up and lift himself up with the toes and ball of both feet, up and down as many times as he can. If he has like soreness on the bottom of his foot, like with Plantar Fasciitis, take a plastic bottle and fill it with water, freeze it, and when frozen, lay it on the floor and have him roll the bottle back and forth with the bottom of the foot. Keep socks on. Massage his foot with some Asper Cream after soaking it in Epsom Salt. You say he is taking medications, what like Nuerontin? That won't hurt him. Get a Vitamin B-12 Shot once a month, works better than pills. Exercising that foot is probably the best he can do for it. And some of the things I suggested. Otherwise, he'll probably eventually have to go to a foot Doctor or Podiatrist. Good luck young lady and give my best to your boyfriend, hope he finds a cure for his pain.
